On March 21, 2002 TPS Incorporated, a leading provider of Japanese and English translation/localization became an independent of Hitachi Communication Systems Inc.
Formerly part of Hitachi Communication Systems Inc. since 1978, TPS, the Technical Publications Service, originally started as the translation section in Hitachi Keihin Engineering Co., Ltd. in 1961. The divesting of Technical Publications Service was part of Hitachi's stated strategy to focus on the entrepreneurial strengths of its independent units.
